After pressure from various organisations the Care Quality Commission (CQC) has announced a new rating system.

The Independent newspaper is worried that as homes will have to pay for an inspection it will prevent smaller homes from applying. It is also concerned that private companies may be used for regulation which could lead to commercial considerations affecting impartiality.

Consultation will start in May and CareHomeMap will be asking for information about how data quality will be assured. We will also ask if any further information will be provided about homes that do not register for the new rating system as we think that what's provided since the previous rating system was scrapped is inadequate.
