A National Audit Office report finds that the CQC has experienced serious difficulties and that levels of compliance of health and social care providers and inspection activity has fallen significantly.
They also found that as a result of the CQC moving inspectors from compliance to inspections and a shortage of inspectors fewer than half of the target number of compliance reviews were completed between October 2010 and April 2011.
